Purton South L1 Leisure

Purton South Moorings are located towards the southern end of the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal in Gloucestershire. When it opened it 1826 it was the broadest and deepest canal in Britain and even today it stands out from other navigations because of its sheer scale and impressive engineering.

The linear site is approximately 150m long. It provides space for up to nine vessels moored against a piled edge, which has metal pile capping. There is a wide concrete pathway along the moorings, which has mooring bollards spaced at five meter intervals.

Additional Information
There are water points at each end of the mooring site and another in the middle. The refuse disposal point is in a compound next to the entrance gate. The facilities listed are provided by and under the control of the local waterway, they do not form part of the mooring agreement. The nearest pump-out is at Purton Discharge Plant, approximately 500 metres south of the site, on the towpath side of the canal. You can purchase pump-out cards from the bridgehut at Purton. Saul Junction (approximately six miles north) has a full range of facilities including water point, refuse disposal, elsan, pump-out, toilets, showers and launderette as well as a boat repair yard with crane & dry dock. The main car park is located along Riddle Street, next to Purton Upper swing-bridge and is approximately three minutes walk away from the site. The open car park is provided by the local waterway. Moorers can use the car park on a first come first served basis, but they do not have any priority over others at this site. The site is laid to grass which has a hard-core sub-surface, allowing vehicle access for loading and unloading purposes during dry conditions. This is a leisure site and is determined by us to be a mooring site for the storage of boats between leisure use, customers may well spend weekends on this site, and occasionally longer periods, but it is not sold as, or intended to be suitable for long term residential use. This site does not have local authority planning consent for residential use, neither does it have the level of facilities and service expected of such a mooring. As such the offer that we have is only intended to meet the needs of a leisure boater. What3Words: ///exposes.discloses.deck
